Brüel & Kjær Vibro is the leading worldwide independent supplier of condition monitoring solutions for rotating machinery. The company’s comprehensive product range comprises vibration sensors (acceleration, velocity and displacement), vibration monitors, rack-based plant-wide integrated monitoring solutions and portable handheld instruments.
These products, together with a complete suite of services fulfil the most demanding applications for safety, condition and performance monitoring of rotating machinery. Based on 60 years of experience and a world-wide sales and support network, Brüel & Kjær Vibro’s monitoring solutions have increased machine reliability while successfully reducing downtime and maintenance costs for thousands of customers within the petrochemical, power and other heavy process industries.
Monitoring in the wind energy industry has been a major strategic focus area for the last 10 years. Brüel & Kjær Vibro, together with leading wind turbine manufacturers, has developed one of the first systems dedicated for wind turbine condition monitoring. The data acquisition unit, permanently mounted in the nacelle, continuously monitors the major components of the drive train. Hundreds of vibration measurements are continuously undertaken for early detection of developing faults. The same unit also enables raw time samples to be automatically saved and downloaded for post-processing and analysis.
Brüel & Kjær Vibro has a surveillance centre that, combined with the data acquisition units, provides a unique solution for effective condition monitoring. A dedicated team of ISO 18436 certified diagnostic specialists work exclusively with monitoring and diagnosing incipient faults on wind turbines; converting the large quantity of diagnostic information and alarms into accurate concise reports, to provide actionable information. The centre also establishes clear procedures for integrating the information and work flow between the surveillance centre and the operator service departments.
Brüel & Kjær Vibro’s unique online condition monitoring concept for wind turbines is Germanischer-Lloyd certified (for both the hardware and service), and thousands of wind turbines are currently being monitored world-wide.
