Strategically located on the western Gulf of Mexico, Port Corpus Christi is the fifth largest port in the United States in total tonnage. With a straight, 45-foot deep channel, the Port provides quick access not only to the Gulf of Mexico but also to the entire United States inland waterway system.
Port Corpus Christi also delivers outstanding access to overland transportation with on-site and direct connections to three Class-I railroads as well as uncongested interstate and state highways. Port Corpus Christi offers expansive "green-field" acreage for development, abundant, near-channel storage capacity and one of the country’s largest Foreign Trade Zones.
The Port is currently developing the La Quinta Trade Gateway, a 1,100-acre space that will accommodate a modern, multipurpose facility. The Port recently kicked off the La Quinta Channel Extension Dredging Project after securing federal funds. The Port is also working on deepening the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to 52 feet and expanding infrastructure to accommodate growing wind, military and project cargoes.
Port Corpus Christi is a leader in environmental protection, and bringing them one step closer to a smaller environmental footprint is a wind farm right on Port property. Revolution Energy, LLC has broken ground on Harbor Wind, a wind energy farm consisting of six windmills producing energy equal to the electricity needs of 2500 homes, making it the first wind energy farm to be built on industrial port property in North America.
A state-of-the-art security department and an award-winning Environmental Management System protect the entire Port complex. With all these attributes and outstanding management and operations staff, Port Corpus Christi is clearly "More Than You Can Sea".
